Missing Orangeville Ontario Woman

Sonia Varaschin, 42, missing

Sonia Varaschin, 42 was reported missing by family members on Monday August 30 when she failed to show up at work.

Orangeville Ontario police released this photo as they conduct their searches including the area around her home. Varaschin’s white Toyota Corolla was found in an alley near Alexandra Park on Monday. There were reportedly blood smears found in her car as well as in her home on Spring Street.

She is described as:

  • 5’1”
  • 125 lbs
  • brown hair with lighter coloured streaks

We will strip away the layers for all to see the loser is not the victim but the man who believes he can lie so well that he will never be caught…

After my wee one came home from the hospital should have been the happiest time of my life. My happiness, regardless, was there overshadowed by O.B.’s shenanighans. He always seemed able to take the wind out of my sails in those years; quite unlike the fellow I dated and married. At that time, he was the epitome of support, or so I was led to believe. It wasn’t until later that I knew how much he padded his actions and comments for his own benefit and in order to get me to do what he wanted as opposed to what I would have liked. Continue reading

Dustin LaFortune speaks out

Dustin Paxton, 30, was arrested in Edmonton last week after a Canada-wide warrant was issued. He made his first appearance in a Calgary court Friday, to face charges which include aggravated assault, forcible confinement and breach of probation.

Arrest warrants indicate police believe that LaFortune was held in Calgary against his will between Dec. 1, 2009 and March 2, 2010. They believed he was confined for a second time in Regina between March 16 and April 16.

Paxton is due back in court on Sept. 3.

LaFortune expects to leave Regina for Victoria on Monday, where he will be reunited with his mother and other close family.

Statscan: More men victims of domestic violence

A new Statistics Canada study on family violence suggest an alarming, and perhaps surprising, trend is on the rise. More women than ever before are attacking their domestic partners.

According to the 2003 edition of Family violence in Canada: A statistical profile, Statistics Canada says more women killed, hurt or threatened their partners in 2001 than in years before.

From 1995 to 2001, the rate of incidents of spousal violence reported by police increased — for both men and women. In 2001, there were 344 incidents for every 100,000 women aged 15 and older, an increase from 302 in 1995. Continue reading
